“Bedroom Empire” is the sound of a round life lived inside right angles. The debut album from Chicago artist, Nikki Patin, was created mostly in people’s bedroom studios and represents Patin’s experience with running her own “empire” from her bedroom. Executive-produced by Patin and Dubfront Records founder, Searchl1te, “Bedroom Empire” takes on heartbreak, marginalized existence, strange humor and conscious resistance via lush strings, dramatic harp arrangements, irresistibly danceable beats and face-melting vocals. This album is for stars crafted from dust under beds, for miracles and wishes granted through mantras bounced off the ceiling, for those driven so crazy by the walls around them that they have no choice but to pound beats into the paint.
